Kahwa X Glenyse Thompson
Coffee Canister | Artist Series

Kahwa Coffee Roasters and the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance (SPAA) partnered together to launch a unique and exciting project benefiting the St. Petersburg Arts Endowment (SPAE). This collaboration has led to art-wrapped coffee canisters.

The newest one is from artist Glenyse Thompson. Glenyse is based out of St. Pete and creates beautiful works of contemporary art that feature vibrant colors and textures. When asked why she started making art she said "I’ve always been busy making something. When I was younger, I thought I might be a photographer when I grew up. Life interrupted and I shelved my creativity, replacing it with career choices that supported my suppressed wish to be artful."

She also went on to say "For a good part of my professional life, I was a graphic designer. Eventually I became an executive assistant and at some point, I was having a rough go of it. My grandmother reminded me that I formerly loved art and encouraged me to start creating again. What was at first soothing and therapeutic became a lifestyle choice."

She creates very vivid, dynamic artwork for collectors, interior designers, and commercial applications. Over time, Glenyse has come to revere curators and artists such as Lowery Stokes Sims, Mildred Thompson, & Howardena Pindell just to name a few. Her artwork truly shows the connection that us as a society has with our surrounding environments.

The net proceeds of the artist coffee canister sales will benefit the new St. Petersburg Arts Endowment (SPAE). The SPAE was created by the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance which is the umbrella organization serving the vital arts and cultural community.
